ONE-ON-ONE COACHING

Get individualized support to address your unique mental performance needs.

My absolute favourite thing is witnessing that “aha” moment - when you learn something new, get around a roadblock, and finally DO the thing you’ve been struggling with.

This is what one-on-one coaching is designed to do - develop new routines, skills, and strategies so that you can perform at your best every single day.

Here are some of the things we might work on:

Mental preparation for training and competition

Managing pre-performance nerves

Self-confidence and self-esteem

Aligning your values and purpose as an athlete

Returning to sport or exercise after injury and dealing with fear of re-injury

Dealing with unhelpful or negative thoughts and emotions

Setting goals

Choking under pressure

Enhancing motivation, concentration, and focus

Coping with injury / illness or the inability to train / compete

▪ Dealing with relationships with teammates, coaches, or family and friends.

▪ Creating pre-performance routines or plans

▪ Perfectionism and fear of failure

▪ Improving execution of skills

▪ Team cohesion and team values

Transition out of sport / retirement from sport.

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • You have a severe fear of failure and self-diagnosed “perfectionism”.

  • You choke in pressure situations and can’t seem to execute.

  • You perform well in training but when it comes to competitions, you tend to underperform.

  • You overthink and struggle to focus when the stakes are high.

  • You struggle to balance the demands of your sport and other responsibilities like school or work.

  • You feel isolated from your team because you are injured and can’t train.

  • You aren’t motivated to continue playing and you dread going to training every day.

One-on-one mental performance coaching might be right for you.

What is one-on-one coaching?

This is where you - the athlete - works with me - the mental performance coach - on a consistent basis to improve performance and well-being in sport and life. We collaborate to create an individualized program that is tailored to your unique needs to tackle any mental performance issues you’re facing.

One-on-one coaching is designed to develop new routines, skills, and strategies so that you can perform at your best every single day.

How the process works

1

We get clear on where you’re at

We get a full understanding of the issues you’re facing by doing a deep dive (read: me asking you alllll the questions) to better understand the direction we need to go.

2

We create a game plan

Based on what we identify during our first meeting, we come up with an individualized mental skills training plan to address your specific concerns.

3

We test, evaluate, and adapt together

You get homework each time we meet and we discuss how things have been since our last visit. We talk through challenges and roadblocks and change things up as needed.

DISCLAIMER: Who this service is NOT for

If you have a clinical mental health diagnosis (for example, major depressive disorder, or generalized anxiety disorder), I am not qualified to treat these conditions.

We can still address performance-related issues, however certain symptoms may be better treated by a mental health professional such as a psychologist, psychiatrist, or psychotherapist.

Please reach out to discuss your individual case to see if mental performance coaching is right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most insurance plans only cover counselling through a registered health professional, such as a psychologist, psychotherapist, or social worker. I do not have any of these designations, so unfortunately cannot provide an invoice with an appropriate billing number.

However, some insurance plan have separate coverage for general wellness services. Please check with your insurance to see if this is available to you.

  • By default, all sessions are held virtually through a secure online video platform.

If you are local to the Ottawa, Canada region, I also offer in-person appointments at my office in Kanata. Please reach out to me directly at hello@feellimitless.ca if you would prefer to schedule an in-person appointment.

  • Right now, I offer 3, 5, and 10 session packages. Three is the absolute minimum because we need enough time to troubleshoot and make sure our strategies are working.

One session is usually not enough to learn about you, AND discuss, develop skills, and implement strategies.

However, I do offer this as an add-on for existing clients.

  • All coaching sessions are one-hour in length.

  • Yes!

I have experience working with both individual and team sport athletes from many different sports at all levels, from professional / elite to recreational.

I also have personal experience competing in both team sports (soccer, volleyball, softball, flag football) and individual sports (Crossfit, golf, running).

  • No! I work with athletes of all levels and abilities - from Olympians, aspiring Olympians, national and provincial level athletes, professionals, youth competitive athletes, and weekend warriors.

  • Mental performance skill development is an on-going process and takes time and practice. An athlete can begin seeing a mental performance coach at any time throughout their season or off-season. However, certain times throughout the raining/competition cycle may be better than others.

The best time to implement a mental performance training program is during the off-season or pre-season and sessions would continue into the competitive season. This way, athletes will initially be allowed the opportunity to work on their mental skills training without the constant pressure of winning.

To be effective, mental performance skills need to be practiced on a continuous basis for an extended period of time. Therefore, we strongly advise working with a mental performance coach for a series of sessions or workshops as opposed to scheduling them for a one-shot event.
